Make your own shrink rulers - one for each type of clay you use. Simply roll clay onto the template, flip the whole thing over, and while the template is still in place, cut around the template. Gently lift the template off along one of the long edges. If the clay curls as it comes off, drop the clay on your bench to flatten it.
After the clay has set up a little, place it between two ware boards to keep it flat when drying.
Bisque fire, and glaze to the normal temperature. To use your shrink ruler, measure the finished size with the shrink ruler. This tells you the size you need to make your item in wet clay using a normal ruler.
